Fresh. Fun. Beer.

I tried a different beer tonight called Tank 7 from Boulevard Brewery. I've been wanting to try it for a while now. I'm hooked.

Geometric Cat.

Since I've been seeing geometric low poly art here and there around the Internets lately, I have been fascinated by it. My cat was the model here. She signed her model release form with a paw print. :)

If anyone wants a how-to on how to create your very own version, here's the tutorial I used:

Wouldn't it be nice.

First day back at work after the vacation. Had a nice conversation with my aunt this afternoon about what we'd do if we won the lottery. Then I heard the Beach Boys song from Pet Sounds tonight trying to figure out what to post today.

Remember Who You Are.

This is something my aunt always likes to say. Words of wisdom.

Argyle Tree.

A totally random post for today, I had pondered what our tree in front of the house would look like if painted with an argyle pattern. I like the result of my prototype.

My First Newspaper Blackout.

On my flight coming home from Seattle, I had the privilege of reading Newspaper Blackout by Austin Kleon. I really admire his work, having already read Steal Like an Artist and Show Your Work!. I was more than ready to dive into anything else he's written. For anyone who isn't familiar with Kleon's work, he creates his own poetry through selecting words in published news articles that fit together to give a whole new meaning to them. My method on my first shot was slightly different than his; he uses print newspapers and black permanent markers. I used Photoshop with the rectangle tool and an old scanned print article I found online; simply because I was too lazy to sift through my recycle bin to hunt down a hard copy to use. Who knows where I can find a Marks-a-Lot too...

I found a random article from a student newspaper from the University at Buffalo published in the 1950s that was archived online and chipped away at it.  I like the result, so I believe I've found a new hobby! I sized the image up in this post so the words could be more legible. Expect to see some newspaper blackouts appear in this blog from time to time. Thanks, Austin!

Mountains.

Mountains. I love them. I pledge my allegiance as to them being my favorite type of scenery. This is a little something paying tribute to seeing lots of them this past week.

Keep JoCo Beige.

So technically I skipped a day since yesterday was spent traveling. I just returned from the airport and it's 3AM. But I made sure to post as soon as I got home... after showering my cats with chin scratches after having not seen them in days. I needed my feline fix. Priorities. ;)

This is a parody I made of the Keep Tahoe Blue stickers that you commonly see around the Lake Tahoe area and surrounding. I'm not particularly fond of the area I currently live in- it's a suburb. In many areas around here almost everything you see is beige and manicured.  Yes crime is low and I have all of the things I need (restaurants, grocery stores, Target, etc.)... but I long to live somewhere that is more urban, colorful and cultured. This place is great for people with kids because of the schools, but children are not in my plans.  I'm very bored, and just returning from Seattle amplifies that.

Diamonds Are Forever.

I saw this pattern painted on someone's door and I think it would make an awesome print or quilt pattern.  I recreated this in Illustrator, one of my choice tools.

Lacy Checkerboard.

I saw something similar to this hanging on someone's wall in a blog post. It looks fun, like a colorful quilt. I've walked a ton today around Seattle. My Fitbit has logged almost 16,000 steps so far and it's just early evening. That has absolutely nothing to do with this picture....

Rain City.

Hand drawn umbrella from my iPad paired up with the Seattle skyline on this showery day.

Seattle.

Spending a few days in this lovely city again! My attempt at a vintage-esque postcard to commemorate the trip.

Fake It 'Til You Make It.

Again, because of pure lack of time, I had to quickly throw something together for today's post. This quote seems appropriate.

Stay Awesome.

So I didn't have much time today to put something more complex together. The background image was shot at my hairdresser's shop; the chair dryer had the coolest upholstered pattern. Sometimes simple is all you need.

Field of Dreams.

Watching a baseball game inspired this minimalist ode to one of my favorite movies.

Hooray.

This morning I woke up with Hooray for Tuesday by The Minders in my head, and it hasn't left.  Anyone else know that song?

Focus.

Part of this daily project is to force me to focus on one thing at a time instead of starting on many little projects at once in a world of chaos.  This graphic reflects that.
